Fresno Four: February 2019

EAT:

13 Prime:

Let’s just start with the fact that I had the best meal of my life at this place. It all started with a wedge salad. I would definitely recommend this salad if you like blue cheese. Actually, I would definitely recommend this salad if you don’t like blue cheese. It was the creamiest and best tasting blue cheese ever. Justin was literally spooning it into his mouth plain.

The next part of this best meal ever, was the chef’s special that night (but it looks like they carry most of the items on the menu anyways, just have to get separately). My meal was a filet cooked PERFECTLY and crusted with a blue cheese sort of butter, on top of creamed spinach and duck fat potatoes. All together nothing too fancy, but boy did everything melt in your mouth and explode with flavor. Justin got the rib-eye and the mac and cheese. Both were great! Everything you would expect from a fancy steak house. We shared a pretty reasonably priced bottle of wine and skipped on the desert, although we looked at the menu and it look really tasty.

The ambiance is great too, not too stuffy, with a bar that looked relaxing for happy hour and some drinks. The restaurant is pricey, but if you are looking for a place to go for a special night out it is definitely worth every penny in my option.

DRINK:

The Library at Detention

Did you know there was a hidden speakeasy in Fresno? There is and its so fun for a night out and some drinks. Hidden in the Tower District inside a pool hall name Detention. I won’t give away all the secrets, but you will need to sign up on their website and they will email you a password with directions on where to find them, specifically. Once inside, you will have a mini history lesson and then seated in the bar. The list of craft cocktails is glorious and the mixologist were awesome! We shared a couple and loved all of them. You can’t go wrong.  Side note, you only have two hours so when your done, plan on going across the street for some live music at Lucys!
