Happy Campers…Not Really Roughin’ It in Buellton, CA

Whether you have an RV or not, Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground in Buellton gets high ratings from us: not only for its campsites, but for the cabins, cottages, and safari tents that you can rent if you don’t drive an RV or pull your own trailer. Wondering where Buellton is? It’s seven miles from Solvang which is about 45 miles south of Pismo Beach and 40 miles north of Santa Barbara – so your options for fun activities are endless! According to Highway West Vacations, their parent company, Flying Flags RV Resort is the perfect place to “explore the great outdoors: from the classic camper to the contemporary glamper.” Even if you only have time for a quick weekend getaway, you must try all of the great amenities Flying Flags in Buellton has to offer:

Yes, this really is the campers’ (and non-campers’) paradise…

2 Pools

One pool area toward the front of the resort with a few cabanas and a spa with direct access to the store and restaurant from the pool…a little quieter and more relaxing.

The other pool, much larger than the first, has several resort style cabanas with plenty of seating in each cabana.  The cabanas are on a first come first served basis, so get there early. However, there are still plenty of loungers, chairs, and tables with umbrellas that you can relax in if you don’t get a cabana.  People there are very friendly and most of the time are willing to “split” the cabana when they’re not using it.

  • A large beach entry area that is perfect for small children and babies or anyone who just wants to hang out
  • Another spa just to the side of the pool
  • Large splash pad area that any kid is sure to enjoy
  • Easy bathroom access from the pool

Playground

  • large playground/park area with lots of play equipment and right next to the main pool.

Extracurricular Areas

From the basketball courts to the soccer field and everything in between, there is always something to do at Flying Flags.  Near the events facility, right in the center of the resort, you’ll find two bocce ball courts, basketball courts, a soccer field, and horseshoes.  There is also plenty of room to bike ride within the resort, and a dog park.

General Store/Cafe

The general store has everything you need, and don’t need.  Whether you need a part for your RV or if you just need marshmallows for s’mores, the general store is bound to have it.  They also have a huge selection of local craft beers and wines. Right next to the general store is the cafe.’ The cafe offers gourmet sandwiches and delicious ice cream.  Just outside of the cafe there are several tables and a fire pit where you can sit at and enjoy your evening with family and friends.

Off-site Attractions

Look into whether you want to park your trailer or RV next to your friends’ camping space, put your non-camper family members in a cabin or cottage next to you, or stay just a short drive away in downtown Solvang.

If you want to plan a different out-of-the-box family reunion, or meet up with some friends, Flying Flags RV Resort & Campground is one of our favorites! We are looking forward to meeting our friends from Riverside there again in November. So, whether you are living in Fresno, living in Clovis, or living in Riverside…it’s about a 3 hour drive from either direction, and tons of fun and memories made once you arrive!
